Frank Abbott Wins NJSGA South Jersey Senior Amateur Cup

Frank Abbott of Oak Hill birdied the first playoff hole, the par-4, No. 18, to claim first place in the Senior Amateur Division over Bill Dittmann of Fairway Mews. Both had shot 76. Matt Wirths of Baltusrol shot 77 and took third place on a match of cards.

Abbott, 56, hit a wedge from 100 yards to two feet to set up his birdie to claim the Senior Amateur Division. He is a two-time senior club champion at Oak Hill, including this year.

Dan O’Rourke Finishes 2nd in N.J. State Amateur

Dan O’Rourke, a former Delaware Valley Regional golfer and Oak Hill Golf Club member, finished as runner-up Thursday in the 116th New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship at Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

O’Rourke shot a 13-under-par, 275 tournament score including a course record in the third round with an 8 under par 64.

Oak Hill Wins NJ Senior Interclub Championship

Receiving an even-par 71 from A-team players Jeff Kortina and Glenn Cocchiola and a 72 from B team participants Keith Rickenbach and Paul Patent, Oak Hill Golf Club, located in Milford, won the coveted Adrian “Bud” Foley Trophy, emblematic of the NJSGA’s Senior Interclub Matches on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield.

Also adding to Oak Hill’s victory was the A-team pairing of Jeff Douglass and Sal DiFazio, who shot 75, and the B-team of Bill Swann and Tom Cullinane who shot 78.
